The problem with a full-tunnel bonded VPN
A general-purpose bonded VPN usually routes the entire Windows Internet connection through its tunnel. That can include Windows Update, software and antivirus updates, cloud synchronization, browsers, email, messaging applications, background services and the live stream itself.
All this traffic travels through the same bonded tunnel. A large download or background update can increase latency, create jitter or reduce the bandwidth available to the stream.
How StarBonding uses your connections
StarBonding does not replace the normal Windows Internet route with a system-wide VPN. One connection remains the primary Windows gateway, so browsers, updates, cloud services and other ordinary applications continue using it normally.
StarBonding sends live-video packets across Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G and USB mobile data connections. The primary connection also contributes to the stream, while the additional connections remain available primarily for streaming.
Dynamic use of the primary connection
StarBonding continuously monitors the usable capacity of every connection. When the primary connection has sufficient capacity, it carries part of the live stream along with the other links.
If Windows Update, a browser, cloud synchronization or another application begins using the primary connection, StarBonding detects the reduction and shifts more video traffic to the remaining links. When capacity returns, the connection can contribute more again.
StarBonding continuously adapts the stream to changing capacity across all connections. Its disconnection buffer absorbs short-lived variations while traffic is redistributed, helping the stream remain stable during congestion, link degradation, and reconnection.
Usable capacity is the bandwidth a connection can safely contribute to the live stream under current network conditions.
A real-world example
Consider a Windows streaming computer with Ethernet as the primary gateway, plus Wi-Fi and two 5G connections. StarBonding can use all four connections for the live stream.
If a Windows update begins downloading, StarBonding reduces the video traffic sent through Ethernet and increases its use of Wi-Fi and 5G. The additional connections remain protected from that update because they are not general Windows gateways.

Some VPN products support split tunnelling or advanced routing, but that requires additional configuration and still does not make the service specifically aware of live-streaming requirements.
Bond the traffic that matters
Combining more Internet connections is only part of the solution. The system must also prevent unrelated traffic from interfering with the video.
StarBonding uses every available connection for streaming, including the primary gateway. When ordinary Windows traffic loads that connection, StarBonding backs off and relies more heavily on the remaining connections.
