Why YouTube streams disconnect
A YouTube ingest can stop receiving data when the local uplink loses capacity, changes route or disconnects. Even a brief disruption may create buffering, force the encoder to reconnect or interrupt the viewer experience. The problem often occurs before traffic reaches YouTube itself.
Send one bonded upload
Configure OBS or vMix to send its RTMP stream to StarBonding on the Windows computer. StarBonding then uses the available links and sends the bonded stream onward to the YouTube RTMP or RTMPS ingest address configured as a restream destination.
Choose a sustainable bitrate
Do not set the encoder bitrate from the fastest single speed-test result. Allow margin for changing mobile and venue conditions. The combined links should comfortably exceed the video and audio bitrate, and the remaining links should still be usable if one connection disappears.
Verify before the scheduled live
Create an unlisted YouTube event, stream for a sustained period and watch both YouTube health information and StarBonding per-link status. Test from the actual venue when possible, using the same modems, cables, powered hub and encoder settings planned for production.
